Lots of fun making this recipe comic for a competition which is part of the Ligatura International Comics Culture Festival in Poland.
The recipe is based on something my son came up on the spot with one day. Its real name is Spy Soup for reasons best known to my boy. It could have turned out awful but was actually pretty tasty and he’s made it many times since.
I hope other folk there try making it themselves!
Finished up a watercolour image of Lucy and the Demon Beast on Friday.
What could I use it for?
Starting with some pencils…
Paint in the main colours of the two characters…
A bit more tone and the base layer for the other colours…
Adding the eyes always brings a character to life…
A hint of a background bringing out the blue of Lucy, plus some colour pencil work…
Finally some black ink…
A clean up on Photoshop whiting out the surrounding paper…
And this demon beast is ready for its close up!

Just remembered some efforts from a Portrait and life class I’d been meaning to post.
Doing super speedy drawings in a life class is scary at first but you can get some energy filled results. Sometimes it can go horribly wrong but when it works it’s a nice surprise!
Would be so great if I could always draw at this speed!

Sometimes my favourite drawings are the quick ones done without any pressure (and often little thought). Here’s a birthday card for my young niece that I scrawled out in about 2 minutes at the weekend.
